Q. Money is a problem in my marriage? How can I stop it?
A. No matter how much money or goods we have, we could always use a little more; we’re never quite satisfied with what we have. When will it ever be enough? According to Hebrews 13:5, 6, the answer is never – because money and goods are only temporary. To pin our hopes for happiness on material possessions is to ask to be dissatisfied.
The Bible talks a lot about sanctifying your money. Here are some very basic guidelines:
- Don’t fall in love with money. It will dominate and ruin you. It’s already threatening your marriage.
- Commit your finances to God. There’s sound wisdom in learning the discipline and faith of tithing.
- Look to God to provide your needs. He will, as you trust Him. Put your hope in Him; you’ll no longer need to worry about having enough. In Him your every need is satisfied – for eternity.
- Read Ps 49:16-20; Mal 3:8-12; Matt 6:19-24; 1 Tim 6:6-10, Heb 13:5.
